RIP Larry Kramer 1935 - 2020

Thursday, May 28th, 2020

One of my great honors was to interview Larry Kramer during the early 80s in person in Seattle for one of the gay rags, can’t remember which one.

Kramer’s life brings back lots of memories for me. Those early days of the virus were so scary. No one knew what was happening because it wasn’t talked about or reported on. Kramer was one of the galvanizing voices that rallied us young gay men away from paralyzing fear into action. He saved more lives than he will ever know, both those of us who were sick and dying and those of us who were healthy and devastated.

The Roberts’ Court has become a right wing branch of the Republican/Trump coup. We Americans are reduced to laughable emojis to the rest of the world while we fight each other in the streets over face masks. Anger and hate are the “go to” options these days. Lies are more important than truth and religion trumps science.

Good luck, my fellow Americans.
